How to Remove Domain Redirect in cPanel? (Video)

If you no longer need a domain redirect, you can easily remove it via cPanel. This will stop the redirection and allow the domain or URL to function as originally configured.

Follow these steps to remove a domain redirect:

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

  1. Open your web browser and navigate to your cPanel login page (e.g., https://yourdomain.com:2083).
  2. Enter your username and password, then click Log in.

Step 2: Access the Redirects Tool

  1. Scroll down to the Domains section in the cPanel dashboard.
  2. Click on Redirects.

Step 3: Locate the Existing Redirect

  1. In the Current Redirects section at the bottom of the Redirects page, you’ll see a list of all active redirects on your account.
  2. Locate the redirect you want to remove.

Step 4: Remove the Redirect

  1. Next to the redirect you wish to delete, click the Delete button.
  2. Confirm the deletion if prompted.

Step 5: Test the Changes

  1. Open your browser and enter the original domain or URL that was redirected.
  2. Verify that the redirect no longer occurs, and the domain or page loads as expected.

Optional: Update DNS Settings (If Applicable)

  1. If the redirect was set up for an external domain or involved DNS changes:
    • Log in to your domain registrar.
    • Update or remove any DNS records (e.g., A, CNAME) related to the redirect.
  2. Allow up to 24-48 hours for DNS changes to propagate globally.

Tips for Managing Redirects

  • Backup Before Changes: Document the redirect settings before deleting them in case you need to reapply them later.
  • Clear Browser Cache: If the redirect persists after removal, clear your browser cache or test in an incognito window.
  • Monitor Behavior: Ensure the removal doesn’t disrupt traffic or functionality on your website.

By removing a domain redirect in cPanel, you can restore the original behavior of your domain or URL, ensuring it functions as desired without unnecessary redirections.
