How to Disable and Remove Cloudflare from your domain in cPanel (Video)

If you no longer want to use Cloudflare on your domain, you can disable and remove it via cPanel. Follow these steps to disconnect your domain from Cloudflare.

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

  1. Open your browser and go to your cPanel login page (e.g., https://yourdomain.com:2083).
  2. Enter your username and password, then click Log in.

Step 2: Access the Cloudflare Tool

  1. In the Domains section of the cPanel dashboard, look for the Cloudflare or Cloudflare Management option.
  2. Click on Cloudflare to open the management interface.

Step 3: Disable Cloudflare on the Domain

  1. In the Cloudflare dashboard, you will see a list of domains enabled with Cloudflare.
  2. Locate the domain you want to disable and click the Disable or Unproxy button.
    • This will stop routing traffic through Cloudflare's servers but retain the DNS settings.

Step 4: Remove Cloudflare (Optional)

  1. If you want to completely remove Cloudflare:

    • Look for an option to Remove Site or Disconnect in the Cloudflare management tool.
    • Confirm the removal to unlink Cloudflare from your domain in cPanel.
  2. Alternatively, log in to your Cloudflare account (if applicable):

    • Navigate to the DNS settings in your Cloudflare dashboard.
    • Remove all records that point to Cloudflare’s servers (e.g., CNAME or A records for Cloudflare).

Step 5: Update Nameservers (Optional)

If you had updated your domain's nameservers to point to Cloudflare, revert them back to your hosting provider's default nameservers:

  1. Log in to your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap).
  2. Locate your domain's DNS settings or Nameservers section.
  3. Replace the Cloudflare nameservers with your hosting provider’s default nameservers (provided in your cPanel or by your hosting support).

Step 6: Verify Changes

  1. Use a DNS propagation checker (e.g., DNSChecker) to confirm that your domain no longer points to Cloudflare's servers.
  2. Test your website to ensure it functions correctly without Cloudflare.

Tips for Disabling Cloudflare

  • Backup DNS Records: Before removing Cloudflare, back up your DNS records in case you need them later.
  • Consider DNS-Only Mode: If you want to retain Cloudflare's DNS management but disable features like caching and security, switch to DNS-only mode instead of completely removing Cloudflare.
  • Propagation Time: Allow up to 24-48 hours for DNS changes to propagate after disabling Cloudflare.

Disabling and removing Cloudflare via cPanel ensures your domain reverts to its original configuration, allowing you to manage it directly through your hosting provider.
