How to Change your Plesk Account Password? (Video)

Changing your Plesk account password is an important step for maintaining account security.

Here’s how you can change the password for your Plesk account:

Step 1: Log in to Plesk

  1. Open your web browser and navigate to your Plesk login page:
    • Example: https://yourdomain.com:8443 or https://your-server-ip:8443.
  2. Enter your current username and password, then click Log In.

Step 2: Go to Profile Settings

  1. In the Plesk dashboard, locate your account information in the top-right corner.
  2. Click your username or account name and select Edit Profile from the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Change the Password

  1. In the Edit Profile section:
    • Enter your current password in the respective field.
    • Enter the new password in the appropriate field. Ensure it meets the security requirements (e.g., a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters).
    • Confirm the new password by typing it again in the confirmation field.

Step 4: Save Changes

  1. Click the OK or Save button to apply the new password.
  2. A confirmation message will appear indicating the password has been updated successfully.

Step 5: Test the New Password

  1. Log out of your Plesk account by clicking the logout option in the top-right corner.
  2. Log back in using your username and the new password to confirm it works.

Optional: Change Password via Server Access

If you cannot log in to Plesk, you can reset the password via SSH or your hosting provider’s control panel:

  1. Via SSH:
    • Log in to your server using SSH.
    • Run the command:

plesk bin admin --set-password -passwd <new_password>

    • Replace <new_password> with your desired password.
  • Contact Hosting Provider:
    • If you don’t have server access, contact your hosting provider for assistance in resetting the password.

Tips for Managing Your Password

  • Use Strong Passwords: Choose a password that is difficult to guess, combining uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Store Password Securely: Use a password manager to store and manage your passwords securely.
  • Update Regularly: Change your password periodically to maintain security.
  • Avoid Reusing Passwords: Do not use the same password across multiple accounts.

By following these steps, you can easily change your Plesk account password to ensure your account remains secure.
